More ways to access onCue

If you like onCue, there are various things that you can do to make it readily available whatever you are doing on your computer:

  1. You can make it start every time that you start up your computer (recommended).
  2. You can put it in the Start menu.
  3. You can put a shortcut on your Desktop.

You may already have chosen some or all of these options when you installed onCue.

If you have the Internet Explorer 4 desktop enhancements installed, you can put onCue into the Quick Launch section of the Task Bar

1. Starting onCue at Startup

  1. Choose Settings->Task Bar & Start Menu... (or Settings->Taskbar...) from the Start menu on the Task Bar.
  2. Select the /Start Menu Programs\ tab
  3. Click on the [Add...] button.
  4. Click [Browse..]
  5. Locate the folder that you installed onCue into, open the aQtive folder and select onCue.exe and click [Open].
  6. Click [Next >].
  7. Scroll down and select the Startup folder.
  8. Click [Next >].
  9. Change the name to onCue.
  10. Click [Finish].

Next time you start your machine, onCue will run automatically.

2. Putting onCue in the Start Menu

The method for this is very similar to Starting onCue at Startup.

  8. Type in the word aQtive
  9. Click [Next >].
  10. Change the name to onCue.
  11. Click [Finish].

You can now start onCue by clicking on the Start menu, going to Programs->aQtive and selecting onCue.

3. Putting onCue onto your desktop

  1. Open the folder that you installed onCue into, using Windows.
  2. Go into the aQtive subfolder.
  3. Drag the onCue icon to your desktop.
  4. This will create an shortcut with the name Shortcut to onCue.exe
  5. Click with the right-hand mouse button and select rename from the menu.
  6. Type the word onCue.

You can now start onCue simply by double clicking on this icon.

4. Making onCue a Quick Launch Item

The Quick Launch section of the Task Bar is the one that sits just to the right of the Start menu button and usually contains a small Internet Explorer icon plus a couple of others. If you're not running Windows 98, or haven't installed Internet Explorer 4's desktop enhancements, you probably won't have a Quick Launch section, and so this option will not be possible for you.

  1. Place your mouse just to the right of the Start button and to the left of the Internet Explorer icon.
  2. Your cursor should turn into a horizontal line with an arrowhead at both ends.
  3. Click with the right hand mouse button.
  4. Select Open from the menu and an explorer window will open with the title Quick Launch.
  5. Locate the folder that you installed onCue into using windows explorer.
  6. Go into the aQtive subfolder.
  7. Drag the onCue icon to the Quick Launch explorer window you opened from the Task Bar.
  8. This should place a shortcut to onCue in it.
  9. Close the window.
  10. Re-adjust the size of the Quick Launch section of the Task Bar by dragging the vertical bars.
  11. You can also rearrange the order of the icons in the Quick Launch section simply by dragging them to their new location.

You will now be able to click on the aQtive icon on the Task Bar to start onCue.
